In preparation for the new school year, LICAB Executive Director Joe Salamone met with members of the Suffolk County Police Department’s School Resource Officer (SRO) Unit to discuss bullying trends, student safety, and community collaboration. The meeting highlighted updated bullying statistics from across Long Island and emphasized the need for proactive, trauma-informed strategies in schools.
Salamone and the SROs explored new opportunities for partnership, including co-led assemblies, staff trainings, and improved referral pathways for mental health support. The discussion reinforced the shared commitment to ensuring that schools and families have the tools they need to respond to and prevent bullying throughout the academic year.
