The Long Island Coalition Against Bullying

Partners with Cohen Children’s Medical Center

FARMINGDALE, NY – The Long Island Coalition Against Bullying has partnered with Cohen Children’s Medical Center, part of Northwell Health, to provide resources for adolescents affected by bullying.

Through the partnership, LICAB is proud to offer its resources to victims of bullying treated at Cohen or any Northwell Health facility; resources including subsidized therapy and counseling, as well as other personal development programs like martial arts and other self-esteem building outlets.  Victims will also be sent one of LICAB’s ‘Smile Packages’, tailored to their individual interests and hobbies.

“LICAB is honored to partner with one of Long Island’s premiere health organizations and institutions in the Cohen Children’s Medical Center and Northwell Health group,” said Joseph Salamone, LICAB founder and executive director.

Additionally, the partnership will work together to increase awareness of bullying through outreach events in schools and communities throughout Nassau and Suffolk Counties and will help ensure LICAB’s resources and programs are more accessible to those who could benefit from them.

Dr. Mark Welles, a general pediatrician at Cohen and leading anti-bullying advocate within the organization will be joining the LICAB board of directors.  “I am excited about this partnership and joining LICAB in combating bullying across Long Island,” said Welles.  “As a physician dedicated to this cause for many years it’s great to see our community efforts aligning themselves with the needs of our communities.”
